I was born and raisied in Christchurch, New Zealand and lucky enough to have had a father who loved nature and photography. My father bought me my first camera when I was 11 years old, a second hand Zeiss Icon 35mm SLR on which he taught me the basics of photography From then and to this day I have always loved the mystery and challenge of the camera however for much of my working life my passion for photography was relegated to the occasional dabble as time and energy allowed.
It took the death of my father in 2011 to re-ignite my passion for photography and to make a complete change in the direction of my life. After many years working in business in Auckland I decided to quit the business world and move back to my home town and embark on a new career as a free-lance creative photographer. I have built a rather extensive body of work with a particular emphasis on South Island landscape images. I have entered competitions and won a trip to Cambodia and had my work featured in several on-line web sites, including the National Geographic “Your Shot” site.
I am also known on-line as “Grevandi” an alias I created to help me market my work more artictically. I shoot 99% of the time in manual mode and always strive to do the best job I can in camera with as little post production software editing as possible. Essentially my work is mostly driven by my final selection criteria, would I hang this on my wall?… My aim is to offer my customers and viewers the opportunity to see, have, and display unique images from my world as I see and capture them.
